The outbreak began on 5 May in Ituri, DRC, and was declared a PHEIC on 16 May. As of 18 May, 516 suspected cases, 131 suspected deaths, and 33 confirmed cases were reported in DRC; Uganda reported two confirmed imported cases. The alert provides updated guidance on laboratory diagnosis, infection prevention, and clinical management."
