"As of 18 May 2026, DRC reports 516 suspected cases including 131 deaths, with 33 confirmed cases and 4 deaths from Bundibugyo virus disease. Uganda confirmed two imported cases, one fatal. WHO declared a PHEIC on 16 May. Response includes deployment of experts, supplies, and activation of coordination structures. Challenges include insecurity, weak contact tracing, and healthcare worker deaths."
