"As of 29 May 2026, the outbreak of Bundibugyo virus disease (BVD) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda has resulted in 134 confirmed cases (9 in Uganda) and 18 deaths. In DRC, 906 suspected cases have been reported. Transmission is concentrated in Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu provinces. A US doctor exposed in DRC is being treated in Germany. WHO assesses the national risk as very high."
