"The 2026 Bundibugyo ebolavirus outbreak in DRC and Uganda has no approved vaccines, treatments, or rapid diagnostics. WHO declared a PHEIC on 17 May; Africa CDC declared a PHEOC on 18 May. The outbreak has spread to Uganda. Existing tools target Zaire species only. Sequencing efforts by INRB confirmed the pathogen. CEPI and Wellcome fund multivalent filovirus research, but clinical gaps remain."
