"The ECDC reports that as of 28 May 2026, the Ebola outbreak caused by Bundibugyo virus in DRC and Uganda has resulted in 125 confirmed cases and 17 deaths in DRC, with 906 suspected cases and 223 deaths. Uganda reports 9 confirmed cases and 1 death. The WHO declared a PHEIC on 17 May 2026. ECDC assesses the risk to EU/EEA as very low. The agency has activated the EU Health Task Force and is deploying experts to support the response. ECDC continues to monitor the situation and publishes weekly threat reports and a risk assessment brief."
