"The ECDC Communicable Disease Threats Report for week 22 (23-29 May 2026) reports 125 confirmed and 906 suspected cases in DRC (Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu) and 9 confirmed cases in Uganda. WHO declared a PHEIC on 17 May 2026, and Africa CDC declared a Public Health Emergency of Continental Security on 18 May. No licensed vaccines or specific treatments exist for Bundibugyo virus."
