"On 28 May 2026, WHO issued emergency guidance advising against the programmatic use of the licensed Ebola vaccine Ervebo during outbreaks of Bundibugyo virus disease (BVD). The guidance concludes that current evidence for cross-protection against Bundibugyo virus (BDBV) is very limited and insufficient. WHO recommends reliance on established public health measures and calls for accelerated development of BDBV-specific vaccines."
