"On 23 March 2014, WHO reported a rapidly evolving Ebola virus disease (EVD) outbreak in forested areas of southeastern Guinea. As of 22 March, 49 cases and 29 deaths (case fatality ratio 59%) had been reported. The Ministry of Health of Guinea notified WHO. This was the first EVD outbreak in Guinea."
