"The 2014-2016 Ebola outbreak in West Africa was the largest since the virus was discovered in 1976. Over 28,600 people were infected and 11,325 died. WHO declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern in August 2014. The outbreak began in Guinea and spread to Sierra Leone and Liberia, with secondary infections in seven other countries. It was declared over in June 2016."
