"The World Health Organization has added the first diagnostic test for the Ebola Bundibugyo virus to its Emergency Use Listing (EUL). The test, a nucleic acid detection assay, will enable rapid and accurate identification of Bundibugyo virus infections, supporting outbreak detection and response. This listing marks a critical milestone in expanding diagnostic capacity for a distinct Ebola species that historically has had limited testing options. The decision follows WHO's evaluation of the test's quality, safety, and performance, and it is expected to strengthen surveillance and case management in affected regions."
