"The WHO Emergency Committee met on 22 May 2026 regarding the Ebola Bundibugyo virus disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. They advised the Director-General that the event constitutes a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) but not a pandemic emergency. The DG accepted and issued temporary recommendations to all States Parties, including measures for cross-border surveillance, vaccination of health workers and contacts, safe burials, and no travel or trade restrictions."
