"This CDC COCA call from May 28, 2026, provides clinicians with an overview of the ongoing Bundibugyo virus (BVD) outbreak in DRC and Uganda. As of May 23, DRC reported 1,077 suspected cases, 121 confirmed cases, 246 suspected deaths, and 17 confirmed deaths; Uganda reported 7 confirmed cases and 1 death. The virus is primarily transmitted through direct contact with body fluids. No FDA-licensed treatment exists for BVD; experimental antibody cocktail MBP134 has shown efficacy in non-human primates. The Ervebo vaccine is unlikely to provide cross-protection. Clinicians are advised to take travel history, rule out malaria, and implement strict infection control when suspecting Ebola."
