"The Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak in DRC and Uganda, with over 130 deaths, was declared a PHEIC by WHO on May 17, 2026. No vaccine or specific treatment exists for this strain. Boston University researchers are tracking spread via the BEACON system and preparing to test existing Ebola therapies against Bundibugyo at the NEIDL BSL-4 lab. Diagnostics, PPE, and travel restrictions are critical."
