"The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda is approaching 1,000 suspected cases. The DRC reports 977 suspected cases and 228 deaths, while Uganda has 7 confirmed cases and 1 death. The outbreak is caused by the rare Bundibugyo strain, for which no vaccines or therapeutics exist. Insecurity in affected areas is hindering response, with multiple treatment centers attacked. The US plans to quarantine exposed Americans in Kenya and has implemented airport screening at three airports."
