- Response: isolation, contact tracing, safe burials, border closure by Uganda
"A rare Bundibugyo virus outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has killed over 200 people. There are no specific vaccines or treatments. WHO has identified potential vaccine candidates: one based on Merck's Ervebo platform (IAVI) requiring at least seven months, and another based on the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine (Serum Institute) available in 2-3 months but needing more animal testing. Therapies recommended for trial include Mapp's MBP134, Regeneron's maftivimab, remdesivir, and obeldesivir for post-exposure prophylaxis. Response relies on isolation, contact tracing, and safe burials."
