"The World Health Organization has intensified support for the Ebola outbreak in Ituri Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo, declared on 15 May 2026. Within 72 hours, 11.5 tonnes of medical supplies were delivered and over 35 experts deployed. The outbreak is caused by the Ebola Bundibugyo virus, for which no licensed vaccine exists. WHO has declared it a Public Health Emergency of International Concern and is relying on public health measures including surveillance, contact tracing, and safe burials."
