"The 2026 Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), caused by the Bundibugyo virus, has been declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by WHO. As of 27 May, over 1200 cases and 250 deaths have been reported. This article provides practical guidance for UK clinicians on identifying and managing suspected cases, including risk assessment algorithms and contact with specialist centres. It notes low risk to the UK, no licenced vaccine for this strain, and ongoing trials for treatments (remdesivir, monoclonal antibodies) and vaccines (ChAdOx1 Bundibugyo, rVSV Bundibugyo). International travel restrictions are discussed."
