"The rVSV-ZEBOV vaccine, marketed as Ervebo, is a live-attenuated vaccine for Ebola virus disease (EVD) caused by Zaire ebolavirus. Developed by Merck, it received FDA and EMA approval in 2019 after a 2015 ring vaccination trial in Guinea demonstrated 100% efficacy. It is administered as a single dose and has been critical in outbreak response, particularly in the DRC. The vaccine induces neutralizing antibodies against the Ebola glycoprotein and has a safety profile of mostly mild to moderate adverse events. It remains a cornerstone of the WHO's Ebola response strategy."
